Policies

Dowerin District High School has developed a number of policies and procedures which reflect our school context. All school policies are endorsed by the School Board and reviewed regularly.  We must also abide by the Department of Education Policies and Guidelines can be accessed through the link on this page.

BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT

We believe the school environment should be safe and caring for all members of the school community. Bullying, violence and harassment are not tolerated in any circumstances.

Behaviour Management practices at Dowerin District High School are restorative in nature and seek to educate students towards self-regulated positive behaviour that is respectful to all concerned.

EXCURSION POLICY

To maximise the educational opportunities that are presented when students undertake excursions, it is vital that teachers and students are prepared, and the school and parents well informed. Activities away form the school site can pose extra risks so it is imperative that all off-site activities are well researched and planned.

CAMP POLICY

Camps are a great deal of fun and provide valuable learning experiences.

NUT MINIMISATION

Some students at Dowerin District High School have been medically diagnosed with the potential to suffer sudden and life threatening anaphylactic reaction to nuts. Parents are asked not to include food containing nuts for their children to consume at school.

MOBILE PHONE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY

There are many useful electronic devices used in our community and it is acknowledged that many of our students use mobile phones and other electronic devices every day. To maintain student focus at school and ensure security of such equipement, all students are required to hand their electronic devices in to the front office when they arrive at school.  They will be available for collection at the end of the day.

HEALTHY FOOD AND DRINK POLICY

Some students at Dowerin District High School have been medically diagnosed with the potential to suffer sudden and life threatening anaphylactic reaction to nuts. Parents are asked not to include food containing nuts for their children to consume at school.

DRESS REQUIREMENT POLICY

All schools have dress requirements for students which are developed by School Councils in consultation with students, their parents and staff of the school.

Dowerin DHS dress requirements are tangible evidence of the standards expected of students. The dress requirements play an important role in promoting a positive image of the school and creating a sense of identity among students.
