Regional Teacher Development School - Mathematics and Science

The Teacher Development School (TDS) initiative promotes the sharing of high level curriculum expertise and innovation across schools, networks and professional learning communities.

Dowerin District High School was invited to become a Teacher Development School for Mathematics for 2014/15 and this was expanded in 2016/17 when we became a Regional Teacher Development School for Mathematics and Science. We have been able, and will continue, to provide support for teachers and schools to

  • better implement the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline,

  • improve mathematics and science curriculum knowledge

  • deliver effective teaching practices in mathematics,

  • use whole school approaches to numeracy

Support for other teachers and schools is offered through the delivery of face to face and online professional learning, school visits, workshadowing, webinars and networking.

We can also ffer ther following presentations to other school who are interested:

Integrating a Problem Sovling Framewrok into every maths lesson

Whole School Numeracy Planning

Catering for Multi-aged Classrooms

Effective Maths Lesson Structure

What colleagues are saying...

Very knowledgable presenters.  I found the framework to be practical and a tool to further enhance classroom practice.

You have provided us with many planning tools that will be very useful.
